After graduating from the University of Alberta in 2007 , I was fortunate enough to receive an offer to teach grade one at Westlock Elementary School for the remainder of the school year. Since then, I have taught one year of grade two, eight years of grade three, and am currently entering my second year as a grade six teacher! I am a truly lucky person to have a job that I love, to be able to work with such an incredibly talented staff, and to interact with not only the children, but the adults from our community.

I grew up on an acreage near Morinville and then lived in St. Albert for a brief period of time until I made the move out to Westlock to begin my new career!   In the summer of 2012 I was presented with an opportunity that I couldn’t refuse, to raise my daughter in the house I grew up in!  I purchased my parents acreage off of them, and that is where I plan to settle my roots with my beautiful daughter Ayla.  I love staying active and I participate in many physical activities outside of the school such as competing in the local triathlon or heading to the mountains for a weekend of hiking or biking.  I also make time for one of my passions in life, running!  Every summer you’ll often find me all over our beautiful province running in races ranging from 5km to 125km!   Aside from my classroom duties I coach soccer, volleyball, and the Running Room Games running team for both Westlock Elementary, and RF Staples.  Let’s have another great year, and Go Foxes Go!!!

Hi, I am Gloria Victoor. I have taught at Dunstable since 1995. I have always taught Kindergarten with a variety of other assignments, which I absolutely love. I am married to my husband, Keith and I have three children: Ara, Aidan and Rees. We live on a farm where we raise cattle and various small animals.

I was born in Yellowknife, NWT and have some very cold memories! I attended J.H.Sissons School from Kindergarten to just after the Christmas break in Grade 5, when the ferry opened and my family was able to move to St.Albert (after waiting for weeks between the ice road and ferry closures and break downs). I then finished out my Grade 5 year at Muriel Martin Elementary School in St.Albert before flowing through Sir George Simpson in St.Albert for grades 6-9 and Paul Kane High School for grades 10-12. I attended the University of Alberta for my post secondary education, graduating in 2013 before jumping into my teaching career. I have worked both in Grade 1 and Grade 6 French Immersion classrooms and am very excited about the 2014-2015 school year!

I am very excited to be joining Westlock Elementary! This year I am teaching music to the grade 5, 6, and kindergarten classes.

I grew up just outside of Westlock on a farm and I went to school at Westlock Elementary and R.F Staples. I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2007. I have taught in Rochester and Clyde and have subbed in a variety of schools in both Pembina Hills and Aspen View.

I have always enjoyed music; growing up I took piano lessons and participated in band throughout junior high and high school. My decision to play the alto saxophone in band was influenced, at least in part, by Lisa Simpson (although she plays the baritone).

I am looking forward to a fantastic 2014-2015 school year!

I am originally from Westlock and took the French Immersion program here at Westlock Elementary. I took my Bilingual Bachelor of Education at the University of Alberta’s Campus Saint-Jean and graduated in 2008. After I graduated I taught graades 2, 3 and 4 French Immersion in Barrhead, then grade 2 in Westlock for almost two years. After a year of maternity leave with my son,  I am looking forward to another wonderful year teaching grade 2 French Immersion again.

My name is Shayla McRitchie and I am excited for another fabulous school year! I am a Grade 4 homeroom teacher. I started teaching at WES in 2010 as a Grade 6 teacher and the last few years I have been teaching in Grade 4! Here is a little background on me … I graduated from Concordia University with an Elementary Education Degree and a background degree in Psychology. I grew up north of St. Albert surrounded by a loving family and many horses, a cat, dogs and pet rodents. By the time I was five years old, I had my cousins playing students while I played the teacher; I have always known I wanted to be teacher. Throughout high school and into university I followed my passion and volunteered in elementary classrooms. Although most of my work as a teacher has been in Grades 4 – 6, I have enjoyed working in various elementary schools with students from kindergarten to grade 6.

My name is Heather McMillan and I’m glad to be joining Westlock Elementary this year.  I am a grade 4 homeroom teacher. Here is a bit more about me… I grew up on my family’s farm near Busby before going off to collage/university in Edmonton.  I received my Education Degree from the University of Alberta and an Accounting Diploma from Grant MacEwan.  After finishing my degree I travelled to the United Kingdom where I taught for two years in London.  I then started working at ADLC teaching students all across Alberta (and the world) from my desk in Barrhead.  I have enjoyed teaching students from all different cultures and backgrounds as well as the unique opportunities I have been given.  I really look forward to being back in the classroom.

I graduated from King’s University in 2002, and l was fortunate enough to receive a teaching position here at Westlock Elementary. Since then, l have taught mostly P.E. and health to grades 4-6 and social and science to grade 4’s. I was born and raised in B.C. At 17, I moved to Halifax, N.S. with my family. After completing university and teaching for a year on the east coast, I arrived on the prairies. Westlock has been home for 35 years. W.E.S. and its people put a smile on my face daily! When I am away from the school scene, there are 2 outstanding passions that need to be a part of my life. They are bonding with my husband Dan and our two boys, as well as pursuing a career in interior design.

I was raised in the Peace River area, in Fairview. I graduated from the U of A in 1979 with a B.Ed. I have taught one year in Clyde, and thirty six years at Westlock Elementary School. I have taught grades three to seven, but mainly grade six. I enjoy getting grade six students ready for junior high school! Outside of school, I enjoy gardening, and spending time with my wife Linda, and our two sons, Kent and Ryan. Teaching has been a rewarding career!
