Faculties: MusicBiography
I was born in Red Deer, Alberta so long ago that even I can’t remember how old I am. My father was a member of the R.C.M.P. so we moved around a few times when he was transferred. After Red Deer I lived in Provost, Wetaskiwin and St. Albert. I attended Parkdale Elementary in Wetaskiwin for grades 1-4, Sir Alexander MacKenzie in St. Albert for grades 5-7, Lorne Akins Junior High for grades 8-9 and Paul Kane High School for grades 10-12 in St. Albert. My post secondary education includes a year at N.A.I.T. in the Millwork and Carpentry program and the University of Alberta for my degree in Education with a minor in music. I studied and taught piano and theory using the Western Board of Music curriculum. I started my school teaching career in Elk Point, Alberta as a grade 3 homeroom teacher with grades 1-3 music as well. After 2 years in Elk Point I taught grades 1-6 music in Ashmont for 1 year. In 1991 I started teaching at Westlock Elementary as the grade 1-4 music teacher. I am currently teaching music to grades K-4. My hobbies include playing piano, singing and listening to music of all kinds, exercising, golfing and lots of reading.
